Perfect for someone with little or no experience riding off-road before. This intro to mountain biking will teach you the basics and build your confidence so you can start riding trails on your own with some degree of skill, coordination and flow.
Join us for 3 sessions of 2 hours filled with new knowledge, challenges and fun. Our coaches understand the importance of progression, you won't feel pushed to a point where fun is not the primary objective anymore. With the 6 hours scattered over 3 weeks, you also won't feel overwhelmed and will have time to practice your new skills in between sessions.
- Bike fit and set-up;
- Mounting and Dismounting;
- Correct use of gears and brakes;
- Correct positions for seated riding, climbing and descending;
- Line Selection: Scanning the trail and select the appropriate lines;
- Basic Cornering techniques;
- Basic front and rear wheel lift.
LEVEL 2: SO NEW TO MOUNTAIN BIKING (see full chart)
You have limited experience on a bike. You can control bike speed and direction on paved surfaces, but have little or no experience riding off-road terrain.

BOWMONT PARK
Located on the north bank of the Bow River between Home Rd and Nose Hill Dr, Bowmont Park is approximately 10 km long and covers a little over 100 hectares. This trail network has something for every skill level with a mix of paved path and narrow steep single tracks. Read more
NOSE HILL
Located in North West Calgary, Nose Hill Park covers 11.27 square kilometers and is surrounded by 12 residential communities. The mountain bike trails range from beginner to intermediate. This is a great area for those learning to mountain bike wanting to get a taste of some real smooth and rolling singletrack without much technical to throw you off your game. Read more
CANMORE NORDIC CENTER
Developed for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games Nordic events, the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park remains a world-class facility. Enjoy some of the best x-country mountain biking in the Canadian Rockies on more than 100 kilometres of single- and double-track trails. Wide dirt roads allow leisurely rides to scenic lookouts, while cross-country ski trails offer more of a challenge on rolling terrain. Advanced riders will enjoy the large number of single-track trails winding their way throughout the Centre, while beginners and families can take a spin on the gravel trails taking you to wide open meadows showcasing the surrounding mountains.
